Cop beaten up by youth for taking on eve-teasers

A Delhi police sub-inspector was allegedly beaten up by a group of local youth for resisting eve-teasing at Japanese Park on Saturday morning.
The police said that the Delhi police sub-inspector was attacked by the group when he tried to stop youth in a car from excessive honking at the parking lot of Japanese Park. They were allegedly misbehaving with women who come for a morning walk at the park every day.
“Five youth inside a Honda City were misbehaving with women and girls at the parking area of the park. They were honking excessively which was annoying joggers at the park. When the sub-inspector, who also visits the park daily, asked the youth to stop as it was creating nuisance to morning walkers, they refused and got into a scuffle with the officer,” said a senior police official.
They allegedly attacked the cop and thrashed him mercilessly. When locals gathered at the sport, they stopped beating the cop and fled the scene, leaving the injured Delhi police officer behind.
“On the compliant of the victim, a PCR reached the spot. The cop was taken to a local hospital for treatment. On the basis of the registration number of the vehicle provided by the victim, the car was found to be registered in the name of a man who resides in Timarpur area,” said a senior police official.
“We have registered an FIR in the case at the Prashant Vihar police station. Four teams have been formed to nab the culprits. When police teams reached the house on the basis of car’s registration number no one was found at the house. The matter is under investigation and it will be worked out soon,” said DCP (Outer) Vikramjeet Singh.
