Delhi University students seem to be quite restless and upset over continuing delay in announcement of results for undergraduate examinations of first and second year batches.
The BJP-aligned ABVP also staged a protest outside the Arts Faculty in North Campus against the university administration on the issue. A delegation submitted a memorandum to the varsity’s dean of students’ welfare, demanding immediate declaration of the undergraduate results for the first and second year batches.
“It has been two months since the students gave their exams, but the results have still not been declared. The students are really upset because of the same. The students are suffering because of the evaluation boycott by the teachers,” said ABVP state leader Bharat Khatana.
The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (Duta) had boycotted the evaluation of undergraduate examinations for all years from May 24 in protest against amendments to the UGC regulations, which was later extended to the admission process too. However, the teachers lifted the boycott of evaluation for the final-year students on June 16 and decided to rejoin the admission process on July 5.
The delay in evaluation of the answer sheets has led to a delay in the declaration of the results and the students are facing the consequences.
“It’s over a month and our results have not been declared even after the new session has started. We are still waiting for our results to get declared. Why do we have to suffer because of whatever happened in the past or still happening I understand even teachers want their demands to be heard, but the administration should think about the students too,” said Vivek Singhal, a second year student.
According to a source, this protest by the ABVP just a few days before the Dusu elections is being seen as a strategy to woo the angry students.
