Four motorcycle-borne unidentified assailants robbed jewellery worth Rs 1.25 crore from two Ahmedabad-based commission agents in Sadar Bazar area of Central Delhi on Saturday morning. The two victims, who had arrived in the capital to supply jewellery to about 15 jewellers in the capital, have been identified as Praveen and Bharat.

According to the police, the incident took place at about 8 am when the two were on their way to a jeweller’s shop from the New Delhi Railway Station. “The two arrived at the station at about 7.30 am from Ahmedabad,” said a senior police officer, adding, “They took an auto from the railway station for Lahori Gate. However, when they reached Qutub Road, two men on a red-colour Pulsar motorcycle intercepted the auto.”

The police said that they started arguing with the auto driver. Before anyone could react, two more assailants joined-in. One of them then took out a knife and tried to snatch the bag away from Praveen. When he resisted he stabbed him in his leg, while another opened fire in the air. “The assailants then took the bag and escaped from the spot,” said the senior police officer.
