A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Bengaluru with 186 passengers, including crew members on board, was forced to land at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Saturday after the pilot observed a steering glitch in the aircraft. The airline said that pilot took the precautionary measure and asked for landing.

According to the sources, the pilot informed the Delhi air traffic control (ATC), following which full emergency conditions were declared at the airport. The Delhi ATC declared local stand-by for the flight, which landed safely at the runway.

“IndiGo flight 6E 106 en route Bengaluru to Delhi made a normal landing on Saturday at IGI Airport. Just before the landing, the pilot observed a nose wheel steering glitch in the aircraft. Keeping in mind the safety, the pilot took the precautionary measure and immediately informed the air traffic control (ATC) about the same. The ATC on receiving the notification of the technical snag would have made the emergency services at standby as per their procedures. However, the flight made a normal landing and the technical snag needed only a computer reset. There was no emergency declared by the pilot. The flight made a normal landing,” said an IndiGo spokesperson.

Last Saturday, a Delhi-bound Indigo flight from Raipur with 170 passengers on board was forced to land at IGI Airport.
