The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has revised its admission fee for fresh admissions for the 2016-17 academic sessions. The new fee structure will be based on the recommendations of the Delhi Fee Regulatory Commission. With new fee structure in place, students will have to pay Rs 70,000, an increase of about Rs 30,000, at the time of their admission. The directorate of higher education for 74 private educational institutes affiliated to IP University has issued a notification to this effect.

Early this year, revision of the admission fee for IP University affiliated private institutes had forced the AAP government to roll back its decision. Soon after the government had notified revised fee structure, students had lodged strong protest against it. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had himself ordered to roll back the revised fee structure. After this, education minister Manish Sisodia had issued clear directions to IP University to roll back the revised fee hike. He had also made it clear that no action should be taken against any student.
