The NDMC has issued directions to its official to remove the Delhi government’s flagship programme “mohalla clinics” being constructed on public space like footpaths in its jurisdiction as it poses danger to public safety.
Direction for removing the mohalla clinics were taken in the NDMC’s sta-nding committee meeting on Wednesday after members pointed that these clinics are coming up on footpath and other places without permission.
Standing committee chairman Parvesh Wahi directed that all such temporary or permanent structure on footpath will be immediately de-molished. “Our departments has already issued notices to the PWD to remove these structure as it is an encroachment on public space. Structure being built to open mohalla clinics on footpath also posing danger to pedestrian safety,” said Mr Wahi.Members from the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress pointed that even the permanent structure for these clinics are built without approval.
The committee also directed that the engineering department must ensure that no building will be constructed without proper approval of building plan by the competent authority.
A senior official informed the committee that notices has been served to the PWD and other agencies for removal of these illegally erected structure.
