Murder of 61-year-old dentist Balwan Singh Ranawat, who was shot dead at his clinic in southwest Delhi’s Palam last week, was plotted by a man whose former girlfriend had an extramarital relationship with the doctor, said the police. Four men were arrested for the murder.
Ranawat was set to leave for home to attend to his ailing grandson when he was killed, said the police.
“During investigation, it was found that the deceased had close relationship with a woman. The CDR analysis of mobiles of deceased and the woman revealed that one Hariom Sharma also had close relationship with her. Sharma was interrogated at length and he revealed that he had close relations with the woman since 2007,” said a senior police officer.
Sharma had been married twice, but both his wives had left him due to his close intimacy with the woman, who has not been identified.
“The relations between Sharma and the woman had become sour due to some financial issues and she had got a criminal case of molestation registered against Sharma and Sharma had filed a suit against her in a cheque bounce case. Meanwhile, the woman became close to Ranawat, making Sharma feel spurned by her and jealous of the victim,” the officer added.
Sharma sought help of his friend Vikrant, who demanded '2 lakh for killing Ranawat.
Vikrant then hired Angad and Sonu and also took a round of the deceased’s clinic with them.
