The police said that a black bag was noticed by a security guard at around 2 am, which contained a country-made pistol, seven cartridges and a screw driver. The bag was found 50 metres inside the main entrance gate of JNU.
A case under Arms Act has been registered against unknown persons and an investigation is going on, said the officer.
“We have registered a case under Arms Act. The police is scanning video footage of CCTV installed at the main gate to get any clue in the case. We have asked security persons of JNU to be vigilant and check authenticity of the visitors before allowing them entry,” said Nupur Prasad, ADCP (South)
Meanwhile, ABVP member Saurabh Sharma also submitted a memorandum to vice-chancellor regarding the same incident.
