Sehwag kin, Daler seek party tickets
Around 1,600 candidature forms for the upcoming Assembly elections have been submitted at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee office till late Sunday evening. Though the last date for submission of forms was announced for October 6, but it is expected that more forms can be submitted by Monday. During the last Assembly polls, around 2,000 people had sought party tickets.

Though the last date for submission of forms was announced for October 6, but it is expected that more forms can be submitted by Monday. During the last Assembly polls, around 2,000 people had sought party tickets. Among the most popular aspirants, Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi has sought candidature from BJP-ruled Tilak Nagar area. Cricketer Virendra Sehwag’s sister and Congress councillor Anju Lata Mehrwal has also sought a party ticket from Jat-dominated Najafgarh constituency. West Delhi Congress MP Mahabal Mishra’s son Vinay Mishra has sought party’s ticket from Dwarka constituency. Delhi Congress’s women wing chief Onika Mehrotra wants to contest from Greater Kailash constituency. Former DUSU president Amrita Dhawan has also sought a party ticket from Tilak Nagar. DPCC office bearers said most of the forms were submitted from Trilokpuri and Karawal Nagar constituency. “Around 60 people from Trilokpuri and around 65 from Karwal Nagar have sought party tickets,” said an office bearer. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Pervez Hashmi also filed his candidature from Okhla constituency.
