Delhi University on Wednesday witnessed many students withdrawing from several colleges in a bid to join their preferred colleges and courses. Approximately 200 students cancelled their admissions to Kirori Mal College on Wednesday and Hansraj College saw over 100 withdrawals. Shri Ram College for Commerce, however, saw no cancellations.

In Kirori Mal College, 750 students had taken admissions till now and the college authorities said about 200 students withdrew their admissions on Wednesday. Ramjas College has enrolled about 555 students for all the courses, with only 27 withdrawals.

Hansraj College, which admitted 345 students in its science courses till now, had almost 45 cancellations for the same in two days. Some 218 admissions have been confirmed for both humanities and commerce with a total of 56 withdrawals. “We have quite a good number, according to our cut-offs. We are going with a very slow process so that we neither face over admissions nor get fewer students. I am sure we will even issue a fifth list with a drop of 1 to 2 per cent as there are less chances of seats getting full within two or three lists,” said Hansraj College principal (officiating) Rama Sharma.

With no single candidate withdrawing from one of the top colleges, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), till now it has filled about 472 seats for B.Com. Honours and 59 students have been enrolled for economics. There are 501 and 123 seats for B.Com. (Hons) and economics (Hons) respectively.

Indrprastha College for Women and Hindu College had withdrawals mostly from B.Com. Honours course.

S.G.T.B. Khalsa, which is enrolling Sikh students under the 50 per cent minority quota from this year, has enrolled about 180 students in total.
