Delhi University’s SC, ST and OBC Teachers’ Forum has written to DU V-C Yogesh Tyagi requesting him to return the teacher recruitment application fee they paid last year as their recruitment is still uncertain in DU colleges.
Last year, the varsity had advertised about permanent appointments of teachers for over 40 colleges following which the candidates were charged an application fee of '1,000. But so far, the candidates have not received any information regarding the interview process from the university in this regard.
“The candidates are feeling cheated after giving the application fee. So we have demanded the V-C that if the permanent appointment process is delayed, the application fee should be refunded. Ad-hoc teachers have also applied in several colleges in a ho-pe of permanent appoin-tment,” said forum chai-rman Hansraj Suman.
Of the 40 colleges which had sought applications from candidates, there were majority colleges who had advertised about more than 10 subjects.
“In such a way, teachers paid thousands of rupees for each application,” Prof. Suman added.
The forum has, however, demanded that a teachers placement cell should be set up in order to make the appointment process run smoothly.
Once the cell is established, it will go through all the application process. “After registering the names with the cell, they will be renewed after one year and this would also stop the colleges from becoming arbitrary”, Prof. Suman said.
