Teen kills friend, hides body in pit

A 16-year-old died after he was bludgeoned 22-times with a brick by a friend, also a juvenile whom he used to bully as a child. The police say that the accused hid the child’s body in a pit beside the Yamuna and then reached the juvenile justice board to surrender.

However, he was handed over to the police. While being counselled, the accused teenager claimed that he had borrowed the idea of eliminating his friend from a television serial.

The 17-year-old accused and the victim stayed at a labour camp beside a power plant in Southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area. Their parents worked as labourers at construction sites. Last week, the accused teenager called his friend for a party at a forested area near the power plant.

After having a few drinks, the accused youth offered to perform a magic trick on his friend and asked him to cover his face with a cloth and lie down.

After this, he picked up a stone and smashed his head. The police say that the teenager was hit 22-times after which the accused dragged the body to the pit and fled. He later dumped his blood stained clothes and took a bath a local pond and went back home.

The accused and the victim had dropped out of school recently.
