A city court on Friday sent the placement agent to judicial custody till October 7 while observing so as to “why was she was not made a prosecution witness” in the case. “Why did you (police) not make her (accused) a prosecution witness instead of arresting her She would have been a very important prosecution witness in the case,” metropolitan magistrate Gomati Manocha noted, while remanding Dorothy to judicial custody. The court also directed the police to submit the statement of the girl recorded before a magistrate. The court also directed the police to track the whereabouts of Kajal, accused Vandana Dhir’s previous domestic help, and make her statement part of the chargesheet. “I want to hear the version of the girl and then I will hear arguments on the bail plea. I will go through her statement before passing my order. Her statement is very crucial,” the magistrate said, while deferring the arguments on the bail plea of Dhir till Saturday afternoon. The court further sought a medical report on the nature of the victim’s physical injuries, mental condition and an opinion on the prescriptions recovered from the home of the accused to be submitted before hearing on Saturday. During arguments, the defence counsel alleged that a “media trial” has been going on in the case and that his client has also lost her job in addition to being humiliated. The magistrate said, “Even if media trial has began, it won’t effect my judgment.”
