While the little ones chew on those Easter candies, the grownups might want something to sip on with the sugary splendours. Wine and chocolate can be tricky to work with but wine and fruit jellybean might just work. The fruity content of the wine gels well with fruit-flavoured jellybeans — a juicy pear, orange, peach or lemon — where the crispness of the wine will cut through the sugary sweetness of the candy.

The marshmallow treats, also known as peeps, can be a pairing challenge but perhaps not an insurmountable one. One could try fixing a bourbon peep cocktail with bourbon, amaretto and add that to a frothy egg white mix. Top with ice, strain it into a martini glass and top with the peeps of your choice. The bourbon does a good job of balancing out the sweetness of the peep.

Besides these specific blends, portwine, elderflower liqueur, flavoured vodka combined with chocolate liqueur can also make for dandy companions to sugary Easter goodies.
