It's a starry kid year 2018
Second and third generation star kids are all set to take on the silver screen this year.
While 2017 may have been the year where big names failed, 2018 isn’t looking pessimistic at all. Given the number of star kids raring to go and making a debut this year, the future truly looks bright. Here’s a handy guide for youngsters to watch out for this year:
Sara Ali Khan: Could she be the first female Khan superstar? Bets are open. Years ago, Sara auditioned for a role in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie as a cute plump child. Now, a svelte young lady, Sara is all set to storm the box office with her role in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath. She plays a haughty heiress in the movie, quite like her mother Amrita Singh did in her debut film Betaab. Abhishek predicts that Sara will take the industry by storm.
Meezan Jafferi: Javed Jafferi, for all his talent, couldn’t make a mark as a leading man. But he’s hopeful his son Meezan will do so. This is also what SLB predicts, as a producer for Meezan’s debut movie, which will be directed by Mangesh Hadawale. But here’s a secret no one knows, Meezan will be launched opposite Ayesha Takia’s sister Natasha.
Ananya Pandey: Another Karan Johar discovery, Ananya, is Chunkey Pandey’s daughter. Ananya will be joining Tiger Shroff in the sequel to Student of the Year, where the debutante will play a character where “Kareena Kapoor’s Poo meets Alia Bhatt’s Shanaya.”
Ishaan Khatter: Shahid Kapoor’s stepbrother is being singled out as one of the most talented male newcomers in the industry. Karan Johar has already been telling his friends that Ishaan’s more talented than Shahid. The bright youngster has already made his debut in celebrated Iranian director Majid Majidi’s A Walk in the Clouds. He makes his Bollywood debut with Karan’s Dhadak, a remake of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat. Amongst the filmmakers planning movies with Ishaan are Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Aditya Chopra and Sajid Nadiadwala. Karan too hopes to cast Shahid and Ishaan together in a film with “lots of dancing, lots of masti”. Can it get any better for a newcomer?
Janhvi Kapoor: With superstardom in her genes, how can Sridevi’s daughter go wrong? Janhvi Kapoor is making her debut opposite Ishaan in Dhadhak. And the reports of her performance, in one word, are overwhelming. A member of the team says, “Jahnvi has a rare understanding of the camera. She is, what I’d call, a natural. She knows exactly what to do, and what effect every expression of hers has on the camera.” While Dhadak is her debut, her father Boney Kapoor is set to produce her second movie.
Ahan Shetty: Suniel Shetty’s daughter Athiya made a not-so-impressive debut with the remake of Hero. Now it’s his son Ahan’s turn. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who launched Jackie Shroff’s son Tiger, has taken Ahan’s responsibility in an all-out action film, which will be a remake of the Salman Khan starrer, Jeet.
