Gold in Saudi Arabia
It's the first Bollywood film to be released in the nation.
The Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold released to an encouraging response on August 15. And now, it’s become the first Bollywood film to release in Saudi Arabia. Since the recent relaxation of norms by the nation, only two international films have released there – Hollywood’s Black Panther and Rajinikanth’s Kaala, and now Gold’s the third.
Celebrating the release, Akshay posted on social media, “The story of India's first Gold medal victory for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Happy to share, ‘Gold’ is the first ever Bollywood movie to release in the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia, in cinemas from today! (sic).”
The film directed by Reema Kagti also stars Mouni Roy, and it tells the story of India’s first Olympic gold medal victory post-independence.
