Actress Tisca Chopra turns writer-producer with a short film Chutney that stars Rasika Dugal and Adil Hussain and the actress herself in lead roles. With the Internet turning out to be an alternative platform for entertainment, Tisca believes filmmaking will receive a huge boost.

Chutney is set in Delhi and Haryana where Tisca is sporting a de-glam look. She is even using a prosthetic set of teeth for her role. Tisca says, “People are used to seeing me in make-up and blow-dried hair but after a point I felt like pushing myself. As an actor, I try to inhabit the character. It is the way to tell people about your skills through your looks.”

Through Chutney, Tisca wanted to explore a story in an ordinary setting. In fact, the starting point of Chutney has been with the actor since her early days. She recalls, “I used to perform this piece as an actor when I started out. The whole idea was about ordinary people.” She also adds that there are stories everywhere. “In our heads, only people with celebrity status, glamour and bling pop out as people who have stories. I find the ordinary life exciting — there is something dark and mysterious about it,” she says.

She has worked with both Rasika and Adil, who are her friends. Praising them, she said, “They are great actors but even greater friends. I have done two films with Rasika — Qissa and 10ml Love. We shot for five days and it left me with a lifetime of memories. We laughed so much. We have become friends for life while shooting for this film.”
