Although actor Pulkit Samrat’s 2012 debut film Bittoo Boss did not do well at the turnstiles, the actor scratched and clawed his way into the big league. The actor has been seen in popular films like Fukrey and Jai Ho, the latest of them being multi-starrer Pagalpanti. Soon audiences can also expect to see him in Haathi Mere Saathi, directed by Prabhu Solomon.

“I am really in awe of shooting with the exuberant Prabhu Solomon. He has shot the scenic forest locales with lush greenery amazingly well. We have never seen a forest in this stunning manner. Prabhu is an amazing storyteller,” gushes Pulkit, who reveals that approximately 80 per cent of the shooting has been completed. “The last leg of shooting in Kerala is still left, and I am looking forward to being with the team and the haathis (elephants),” he smiles.

The actor plays a mahout in the film and shares that it was an experience unlike any other. “It’s been an enormous experience. I remember, I would meet the elephants that I may have shot with after three or four days, they would come close to me and show their love and affection as if saying, ‘We have been missing you’. These haathis are conversational, we did not need to use any stick to control them,” he smiles.

The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, and Telegu, which was a learning experience in itself for Pulkit. The 35-year-old shares: “We shot simultaneously in three languages, but every actor will play it differently. For example, if I shot a scene in Hindi, I will do it my way. Vishnu Vishal, playing the same role in Tamil/Telugu,  will shoot the same scene simultaneously but in his own way.  So everyone does it differently. It was not only a huge learning experience but since we are not dubbing the film and shooting instantly in varied languages, I hoarded another degree of technicality in filmmaking. Ek hi time par teen alag alag tarikon se same scene hota tha (The same scene was done at one time in three different ways by different actors),” he concludes.
