Shahid Kapoor, along with his wife Mira Rajput walked the ramp for designer Anita Dongre at Lakme Fashion Week 2018. The couple seemed straight out of a fairy tale picture, walking hand in hand. But even as they looked too cool to care, Mira reveals she had the nerves before she walked down the stage.

“I have to be honest, I was hoping to not fall on the ramp. I even told Shahid about my fears. I was pretty nervous because I have seen models and professionals own the ramp with their attitude and poise. But me? I wasn’t sure,” she says.

However, the nervousness wore off and she felt secure soon enough. “Although jittery, I knew I was in safe hands with Anita and her collection. I was extremely excited and nervous. Before we stepped on the ramp, I wished Shahid the best, but it was really me who needed all the luck!” Mira laughs.

When asked how Shahid prefers to see Mira wear: traditional attire or western ensemble, he says, “I prefer to see Mira the way she likes to dress — whatever that may be. But I must say, she looks wonderful in the attire she is wearing today,” he says, unable to keep his eyes away from his missus. As the actor finally tore his attention away from his wife, still charmed by her beauty, he says, “We got married two and a half years ago, but she is looking as beautiful today as that day. Maybe we could have gotten married again today. She looks beautiful.”

The actor also said how important it is for men to not dictate women on what to wear. “It is tiring for a woman to always worry about what the males around her think about her.”

Coming to their relationship, Shahid credits the fluidity in their rapport to simple understanding. “You have to accept each other for who you are. That’s how we have been able to make this work, considering how both of us come from very different backgrounds. She likes me for who I am and I like her for what she is,” he adds.

Lastly, when we asked Mira how she liked Shahid’s performance in Padmaavat she was quick to answer, “I think the audience has already judged the movie; it’s beautiful, it is a visual treat. Personally, I think this is one of Shahid’s best performances. It is difficult to play a character when you don’t have the support of many words. But that’s exactly when one’s acting talent really shines through. Shahid has done that with so much ease. I am just so proud of him.”
