When he made his debut in showbiz with Barsaat in 1995, this star kid was considered quite the charmer. And while people thought the youngest Deol kid was here to stay, destiny had something else in store for him.

After going through a huge lull in his career, Bobby believes he’s fought his battles, and now has more clarity about his work. Did he become choosy with his work? “I haven’t become choosy. People have become choosy about me,” he smiles. “Yes, I was not doing too many films. But even four years ago when I was working, I was the same.”

He adds, “Somewhere, things didn’t fall in the right place and I didn’t do a few movies. So you disappear, and fight your own demons and come out of it. I feel fresher, clearer and more positive about things today.”

Bobby, however, doesn’t want to recall the low phase in his career. “I dealt with it in my own personal way. We are human beings and we all go through sad times. Such phases can either eat you up, or you will come out of it and be successful, and I chose to come out of it. I have become more positive now.”

Quiz him on the much-talked-about nepotism issue, and he explains that it’s all about the struggle. “I don’t think there’s any backing when you’re an actor,” says the 50-year-old. “You have to be professional and work hard and see that you choose the right kind of films. I have never believed that star kids get a lot of benefit, or a non-star kid gets a lesser push. I think both have to struggle, work hard and make a mark.”

Bobby is now all set to welcome his nephew and Sunny’s son Karan Deol into the film industry. He says, “Karan is a very bright kid. He’s a wonderful child and is a Deol. He is like us, so you will see us in him, with the way that he’s been brought up.”

The actor will now be seen with brother Sunny Deol in Poster Boys, which is slated for a September 8 release. The movie is an official remake of Shreyas Talpade’s Marathi hit, Poshter Boyz, which deals with three men, who find their pictures on a vasectomy poster.
