After capturing the audience’s attention as Alia Bhatt’s Pakistani husband in Raazi and making his presence felt as Paras in Lust Stories, Vicky Kaushal is gearing up his next release — Manmarziyaan.

The actor, who has trained under filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and worked with him as an assistant director in the past, says that he hopes to work with him at least once every few years for as long as he’s around.

“Working with Anurag is like a rebirth. You get to learn so much from him about performance as well as filmmaking. He comes on set and works spontaneously; his scenes are created on the spur of the moment. At times, I do get a little confused, but the outcome is really outstanding,” Vicky says.

After Manmarizyaan, the actor will reunite with his Lust Stories director Karan Johar for his upcoming period drama, Takht. And he’s been given strict instructions to stay mum on the project. “I cannot talk about my character in Takht right now. I have been instructed not to reveal anything. Karan sir revealed the cast only because there were a lot of speculations going around in the media,” he says.

What’s his take on Karan Johar, who’s known for the romantic and family dramas, making a period film? “Karan himself has said that the Moghul period drama is like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham for him. I am sure the film will showcase the intricacies of the characters’ relationships. Karan sir is known to be the best director of relationship dramas,” Vicky responds.

According to reports, Vicky will be seen playing Aurangzeb in the film, and Janhvi Kapoor will be seen playing his love interest. But he’s not willing to confirm anything yet. “You’ll just have to wait and watch,” he says, adding, “We have not yet completed the look tests. Shooting will begin only next year.”
