Police stop Shah Rukh's b'day party in wee hrs

There were no complaints from locals, stated cops.

Mumbai: The Mumbai police clamped down actor Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday party in the wee hours on Saturday after the venue was found to playing loud music beyond midnight. A patrol team of Khar police station landed at the venue in Pali Hill after the high voltage 53rd birthday celebration of the actor went on till beyond 2 am.

The police meanwhile stated that it was a routine round up and that nothing was special about the intervention. The patrol staff informed the police station and the senior officers about the ongoing party and asked the establishment to shut it down.

“This is our routine job. The patrolling teams checks their jurisdiction and shuts down all the establishments that are found to be operating beyond 1.30am,” said Sanjay More, senior inspector of Khar police station.

Sources said that the police did not approach the guests during the celebration that was underway in the presence of number of starlets. However, after the police intervention, the guests were seen leaving from the venue, Arth Restaurant and Lounge, after minutes.

The party began in the night and went on till wee hours in the presence of Nikhil Advani, Swara Bhaskar, Bosco Caeser, Ajay-Atul and others. The party also played the host to launch of the actor’s upcoming movie ‘Zero’.

When the police was asked if any action was taken against the establishment or if they were penalized for violating the deadline, the officials said that it was a routine affair and since the operators followed the police order, no action was taken against them.  

 “No action was taken against the establishment,” added another police officer from the Khar police station. The police also stated that there was no complaint from any of the local residents.
