Ahmed Khan may be better known as a choreographer, but his love for cinema is incomparable. He has also dabbled in direction, which will be in the limelight once again with Baaghi 3.

When asked about his influences, Khan is quick to mention Rohit Shetty of Singham fame. “I love the way Rohit Shetty shows his films. For example, Golmaal is a comedy franchise, but he puts action in it. He loves to catch the nerve of the audiences and serve them what they wish to watch, but smartly enough, slowly and gradually he will start showing action. It’s like, ‘Tumko comedy dekhna hai na toh dekho (If you want to watch comedy then watch it) but in it I will show you action too,” he explains.

However, Khan opines that while Shetty brings action into his films, a dance film may prove to be a challenge for him. “Rohit Shetty ke liye musical dance film banana challenge hoga!  Like how Subhash Ghai made mass hysteria films by engaging 200 dancers in his musically-bound films. It will be a nice thing for him. He is a huge director,” he says.

The director, who is also a judge on reality dance show Nach Baliye, reveals that he prefers big, dramatic cinema. “I like the way Ghai sahab portrays a character, while in the background emotional music plays. A mother standing with her duppatta, showcasing the directorial excellence with the under-cut lightings. This cinema portrayed on a huge scale and canvas is the real cinema. J.P Dutta’s films are portrayed so very hugely.” He shares, adding that he certainly has a ‘type’ of film that he likes and relates to.

“I don’t understand films in which a boy comes from Mathura and shows his journey…I am not insinuating anything towards any films released lately, but I am just talking about films made in large scale with their heroes coming in high speed. Even women-oriented films like Chandini, ChaalBaaz, etc.

I love such films,” he says in conclusion.
