Love is just an illusion, says Hrithik Roshan
Ahead of his film's big release, Hritihk Roshan talks about the release date tussle with Shah Rukh and more.
Much has been said and written about the upcoming ‘clash’ between SRK’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, but Hrithik is just back from a family holiday, looking fit and healthy, as he confesses, “I am feeling relaxed at the moment.” The actor says it feels great when people from India call him an ‘international star’. But ask him if he is keen on doing Hollywood films, and he replies, “When people here have given me the title of ‘international star’, there is no need for me to work in Hollywood!” Praising fellow actor Priyanka Chopra for doing well in Hollywood, Hrithik says,"Priyanka is a very talented actor. We can expect much more from her as she is always ready to surprise all of us with her performances.”
When asked why he thinks the Khans have not yet tried their luck in Hollywood, Hrithik says, “I don’t think that’s their goal. Maybe their ultimate aim is to do good films here in Bollywood.”
With Kaabil and Raees releasing on the same date, Hrithik opines, “They probably could not find an appropriate date other than 25th January. However, Shah Rukh Khan and I are friends. Of course, friendship and business are two different things, but we will remain friends forever.”
Steering to the topic of playing a visually impaired character in Kaabil, Hrithik explains, “This character needed to be played honestly. Although we could see, we had to pretend being visually impaired. It was challenging but a great learning experience for me.”
Hrithik is all praise for co-star Yami Gautam. “Without Yami, this film would have not been possible at all. You’ll have to watch her splendid performance to see how she has done justice to her character.”
A doting father to his two boys, Hrithik says, “I always allow my kids to do whatever they want to experience, but I explain the good and bad effects of their actions to them. They need to tread their own path, fall, get up and keep walking. I do not wish to deprive them of trying anything.”
Hrithik says his kids love him to bits and recalls instances where they wanted him to feel pleased and happy. “When they saw my film Mohenjo Daro, they came home and told me ‘Papa the film is good’! Probably they must have heard about the film not having done well at the box office. Also, after watching the trailer of Kaabil, they gave me 8.5 out of 10!” he says with a smile.
About his own father, producer-director Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik, the devoted son, says, “My dad does regular exercises to keep fit and fine. But if he misses even a single day, I immediately remind him to go the next day.”
Hrithik being the romantic at heart adds, “Love is just an illusion. All the things that you hear and see don’t exist. Romance ke baad jo love rehta hai, now that’s not an illusion. It’s real.”
