Pretty Parineeti Chopra will be seen as Bindu, in her yet-to-release, Meri Pyaari Bindu. Elaborating on her character, she says, “My character in the film is spunky, energetic and yet so very irresponsible, with no planned agenda, unlike today’s generation that is focused.”

Is the real Parineeti focused? “I am focused and I work hard. I love my profession and don’t care much about losing my sleep following my work schedules. Having said that, I like to strike a balance between my personal and professional lives.”

And this, she does by indulging in what she loves — reading and traveling. “In these last 10 years, I have travelled a lot. Undeniably, alongside being a workaholic, I also keep my interests alive.”

Talking about the tough life amidst glitz and glam, Parineeti says, “Those who watch us from the other side, feel that we are having a luxurious life. But let me tell you this is the most painstaking profession. We actors are always vulnerable. We show all positive things on screen, however tough our time maybe in reality. For example, I may be tired after long shooting schedules or after travelling, but when I get into my character, I have to give my best. At times, even when we are sick, we need to get all right instantly to be in front of the camera. So those who feel this is an easy profession are mistaken.”

Delving into facing criticism, Parineeti clarifies, “Frankly speaking, while I am doing a film or a character, I do get a feeling if the audiences will like me or not. At times, I presume that I will be criticised for a role. I just take criticism from the audiences in a positive way, and begin my work happily the very next day.”

Was it pressure that made her turn to a fitness regime? “No,” she clarifies. “I had health issues and had to lose weight. Earlier, I could not cope with long shooting schedules — my body would give way. But now, after becoming fit, I can work for hours, tirelessly travel long distances, etc. I feel healthy. However, it’s also true that as actors, we need to be slim to look perfect in front of the cameras. But it is unfair to say that I lost weight owing to pressure,” she says.

Parineeti will also be soon seen in Golmaal Again, opposite senior actor Ajay Devgn. “Working opposite any male actor comes from the makers. It is not our conscious choice. All the same, I am looking forward to working with Ajay. I love to work in action, drama and all kinds of genres. However, my favourite is sports,” she concludes.
