Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan to cross swords at the box-office; details inside
Kangana and Hrithik's upcoming films 'Mental Hai Kya' and 'Super 30', respectively, are set to release on July 26.
Mumbai: After a notorious legal battle over their alleged love-affair, Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan are all set for a clash on the professional front. Their upcoming films 'Mental Hai Kya' and 'Super 30', respectively, are set to release on the same day.
Interestingly, Hrithik's 'Super 30' was earlier scheduled to release on January 26 this year, the same day as Kangana's period drama 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'. However, Super 30 was later pushed to July 26.
But it seems the clash was inevitable as Mental Hai Kya's release date has been pushed from July 21 to 26. The Kangana and Rajkummar Rao starrer was initially supposed to release in March, but it then pushed to June 21 and now, the release date has been postponed once again.
Ekta Kapoor’s production house stated that this is a call taken by considering better prospects for the movie at the box office.
The statement reads: "The shift in the release date is a decision taken after recommendations from the distributors, trade analysts and a top research team, keeping in mind the other releases a week before and after this date. We have thus been advised to shift the release of our movie to 26th July, purely for business prospects. On knowing that there is already a movie scheduled for a release on that date, we did everything in our purview to ensure the other parties that there will be no mudslinging and it will be a dignified release. We stand by assuring that to all other parties."
Hrithik will be seen playing mathematician Anand Kumar in Super 30. The film is directed by Vikas Bahl, who has been accused of sexual harassment by one of his assistants during the shoot of 'Queen'.
Kangana and Hrithik's public fight began in 2016, when the actress spoke about her 'silly exes' in an interview. In response, Hrithik had tweeted that he would rather date the pope than any of the women being mentioned in the media. Kangana accused Hrithik of dating her behind his wife Sussanne's back, but the actor denied the allegations, saying he never associated with her outside of the professional sphere.
