Is Varun Ranbir's replacement?
Varun had earlier signed up for the Yash Raj and Maneesh Sharma produced film, Sui Dhaaga: Made in India.
Varun Dhawan is turning out to be the new replacement for Ranbir Kapoor. Or so it seems.
Films that were originally offered to Ranbir are now being peddled to Varun. Unlike Ranbir, who recently gave a string of flops, Varun’s films have done well amongst the masses. This, despite Varun not being a high-flying star like Ranbir, whose off-screen ballads make more noise than his films seem to be doing at the box office.
Varun had earlier signed up for the Yash Raj and Maneesh Sharma produced film, Sui Dhaaga: Made in India. The movie is being directed by Sharat Katariya, and will also star Anushka Sharma.
A day after Ranbir met and rejected Shoojit Sircar’s football film, it was Varun Dhwan who took a turn to go and meet the filmmaker for the same project.
Varun had been offered the film, but it’s not clear if he has accepted it yet, given his tight schedule at the moment. Varun has a slew of films waiting for him, and we’re told he has no dates to give for the next 18 months.
“Varun’s schedule is quite tight,” says a source close to him. “He has signed on for some really good films, where he fits to the tee. He’s a producer and a director friendly actor, who doesn’t keep people waiting when being approached for projects. Unlike Ranbir, Varun isn’t much into football, but is in top shape for the role. The question here is only of the dates.”
