Mumbai: While all of us know that Aditya Chopra is a recluse, the filmmaker seems to have opened up recently, sharing pictures of himself and even talking about his experiences on his film ‘Befikre’ in a series of blogs.

While the first post was about how ‘Befikre’ was his ‘second first’ film and how he has changed over the years since he made his debut as a filmmaker with the blockbuster ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’.

His second post was about he missed Shah Rukh Khan, who was part of all his earlier three films, in this film and how Ranveer Singh became Shah Rukh for him.

And now the director has spoken about his leading lady, Vaani Kapoor, in his next blog.

Chopra starts by introducing Vaani’s character. Shyra is a Punjabi born and brought up in Paris and is a modern and confident girl who easily falls in love and falls out in love, resulting in her having 42 boyfriends before she meets Ranveer’s character.

The director then talks about how he chose Vaani for the character and his apprehensions regarding the same.

“When I announced the film with Vaani Kapoor as Shyra, everyone was very surprised. I don’t blame them, I was surprised with my choice too,” he says.

According to the demand of the script, the director was keen on casting an actress who had not done too many films, and his casting director Shanoo Sharma had started auditioning fresh faces. But then Chopra thought of giving Vaani a chance and asked Sharma to audition Vaani on scenes from Hollywood romcoms.

“I just wanted to see if she could transform into someone completely different and surprise me. She blew me away and I found my Shyra. The casting of Shyra and the casting of Vaani were the two biggest risks of my film. Today for me they are the biggest strengths of the film,” he writes.

Chopra hopes that the audiences also agree with his views when the film releases on 9 December.
