Trade rumours have been abuzz that Boney Kapoor has inked a deal last week in Chennai to acquire the remake rights of Vivegam. The Tamil hit starred Ajith Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, Vivek Oberoi and Akshara Haasan, and dealt with the story of an Interpol agent, betrayed by his own friends, who work for a secret agency.
The catch, however, was that Boney wanted to launch Ajith in Hindi movies, with the remake. While Boney did not reply for a long time, Ajith’s manager Suresh Chandra denied that Ajith was making his Hindi debut. “Boney Kapoor may have taken the rights, but Ajith is not doing the film in Hindi,” he says.
Finally, Boney responded saying that he was not doing the remake, with a simple “No”. Sources, however, insist that the deal has been signed and Boney would make an announcement soon. We await an official confirmation.
