Karisma Kapoor bonds with Shweta

Fifteen years ago, Abhishek Bachchan was all set to marry Karisma Kapoor when their engagement came to an abrupt end, leaving both families embittered.

The otherwise diplomatic Bachchan family patriarch was so upset by the events that he even refused to work with Kareena in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black. (I would know since it was I who took the offer to him).

But now, it seems those wounds have finally healed. A conclusion supported by the fact that Karisma attended the inauguration of Abhishek’s sister Shweta’s clothing line in Mumbai last week. The two ladies were even spotted bonding, and it didn’t seem to be just for the cameras.

“There was a sincere affection between them,” an attendee of the event says, adding, “For years, no member of the Bachchan family spoke to Karisma. Now, Shweta has broken the ice, and rightly so. You can’t hold grudges forever.”
