Neeraj Pandey registers to remake Vikram Vedha
Shah Rukh Khan too was very keen to remake the film with himself in the lead along with R Madhavan.
After the Tamil film Vikram Vedha starring R Madhavan, Vijay Sethupathi and Shraddha Srinath went on to be a blockbuster hit, there were several film companies in Bollywood that desperately wanted to lay their hands on the remake rights of the film.
Shah Rukh Khan too was very keen to remake the film with himself in the lead along with R Madhavan. Madhavan was also keen to work on the project reprising the same role he played in the original while SRK was to play the role played by Sethupathi. But, things did not work out.
Now there is the first official movement on the film from producer-director Neeraj Pandey’s end. Neeraj and his company Friday Filmworks have registered the title with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA). “Friday Filmworks have blocked the title for a film as well as for television and a web series so that no one can take and misuse the title,” informs a source from IMPPA.
There was a buzz earlier that the original directors of the Tamil film Pushkar and Gayathri may be considered to direct the remake as well but then linguistic barriers may have Neeraj directing the remake himself. Shraddha Srinath who played the role of Priya in the original was also very keen to be in the remake. “Of course. SRK was doing a session of #ASKSRK on Instagram and I got too excited and asked him who they are casting in the female lead. Of course, he did not reply,” says the Milan Talkies actress.
Seems like we have to wait for a while to know the ensemble of the film.
