The cost of being an actress

Despite living a relatively modest lifestyle for an actress, Radhika Apte says that a career in show-biz doesn’t come cheap.  

“It’s very expensive. Travel and clothing cost a lot. When you are new, nobody gives you anything for free. A good stylist also costs money, so you have to shell out quite a bit. At a time when you don’t have enough money to pay your rent, so many other expenses come up,” Radhika says, adding, “As far as I am concerned, I learnt how to do my own makeup to save money. I am not great at it, but I manage.”

Meanwhile, the actress also refuses to call herself a star, saying, “I am just an actor who wants to do different kinds of films. I don’t believe in attaching a tag to your name.”
