Bollywood drugs probe: NCB raids Arjun Rampal's residence, issues summons
The officials seized electronic gadgets belonging to Rampal from his Bandra residence and also questioned his driver for several hours
A day after arrest of Bollywood producer Feroz Nadiadwala’s wife in drugs case, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided the residence of actor Arjun Rampal and summoned him and his girlfriend for questioning on Wednesday, with the officials seizing some suspicious tablets from the actor's residence.
The NCB also recorded Nadiadwala’s statement in connection with the seizure of 10 gram of cannabis from the possession of his wife Shabana.
The officials seized electronic gadgets belonging to Rampal from his Bandra residence and also questioned his driver for several hours.
The NCB had arrested the brother of Rampal’s girlfriend Gabriella in an earlier case after he was found to have links with international drug cartels. The officials said that the names of Rampal and Gabriella cropped up during the course of his questioning.
“They will be questioned in connection with the developments in the investigation and on the seizure made from their home,” said an officer.
The NCB also stated that they had summoned Nadiadwala to be questioned in connection with the ongoing investigation. However, he failed to appear. The NCB subsequently raided their Juhu residence and arrested his wife Shabana following seizure of 10 grams of cannabis.
The police has filed a case against Shabana under sections of the NDPS Act and further probe is underway. The officials are probing if Nadiadwala was also involved in procurement and consumption of banned substances.
While the NCB is probing the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been probing the alleged money laundering and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the motive behind the actor’s suicide.
