Sanjay Dutt's loss, Shah Rukh Khan's gain?
The actor was set to star in a role much similar to SRK's Raees. But fate had other plans.
Very few know that Sanjay Dutt was supposed to start Soham Shah’s next, titled Sher, along with Vivek Oberoi and Humaima Mallick. The movie was rumoured to be strikingly similar to Shah Rukh Khan’s next, Raees, but got shelved when producer Shri Ashtavinayak got itself into a financial and legal tangle.
Sanjay was reportedly set to play a Gujarati don in Sher. Says a close source, “The plot of Sher was similar to SRK’s Raees. Sanjay was to play a bootlegger, which Shah Rukh is currently playing. The movie was announced in 2014, but unfortunately Sanju too had to go to jail and the film eventually got shelved.”
Sanjay has practically lived the part of the tumultuous superstar and had been imprisoned by the TADA court for illegal possession of arms and ammunitions. The actor was released from jail on February 25 this year. Sanju is now reportedly to begin work on Marco Bhau, to be helmed by Shelly Chopra, Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s sister. This will be followed by his return to the silver screen as Munnabhai.
