The Kashmir Valley seems to have opened its arms once again for Bollywood. After a temporary lull, at least 12-14 film crews have flown into the valley in the last couple of years. The latest one to do so is Shabana Azmi.

The actor recently shot for debutant director Piyush Panjuani’s Idgahm based on Hindi litterateur Munshi Premchand’s celebrated short story about an orphaned eight-year-old boy and his grandmother.

Speaking to us from Kashmir the actress says, “I am shooting in a pristine valley called Nagin. I play a woman of the hills, named Ameena, who loses her only son and daughter-in-law in an accident, and is left looking after their son Hamid. It’s a tender tale of a grandma and grandson.”
