Bachchan starrer with Nagaraj Manjule shelved?
The project was roadblocked earlier, when the original producers backed out of their commitment.
It looks like more heads are likely to roll, as the #MeToo movement sweeps across the film industry. The latest casualty is reportedly the Sairat director Nagraj Manjule, who was all set to direct Amitabh Bachchan in Jhund, a biopic on the life of the iconic football coach Vijay Barse from Nagpur.
The project was roadblocked earlier, when the original producers backed out of their commitment. And now it looks like the project will be stalled once again. Reports suggest that the new producers, Bhushan Kumar and T-Series, have decided to put the project on hold.
Reveals the source, “Manjule was accused of cruelty by his estranged wife. It was a big case. Bhushan Kumar, who has himself been called out for sexual harassment, doesn’t want to work with tainted directors. He has already given marching orders to harassment-accused Subhash Kapoor, who was to direct the biopic on his father Gulshan Kumar. Now Nagraj Manjule too may be relieved of his duties.”
Interestingly, Mr Bachchan wouldn’t be too keen on working with Bhushan Kumar either. Not after Kumar was anonymously named in a harassment allegation.
