DeepVeer wedding saga
The couple is all set to have a Sindhi and Konkani-styled wedding.
We’ve seen Deepika Padukone pull off multiple accents and looks in her films, and now, the talented actress will be donning two different looks on her D-Day as well, looks that will remind us of her characters in the super hit films Chennai Express and Padmaavat. Apparently, the actress and to-be hubby, Ranveer Singh, will have a Sindhi-styled wedding as well as a Konkani-styled one. For the Konkani wedding, Deepika will dazzle in a saree, while a luxurious lehenga has been selected for the Sindhi wedding.
Her Konkani drape will exude hues of gold, marigold and orange and the actress will complete her look with traditional accessories she recently purchased — the vaki, ambada aati, pake and jada choti. Doesn’t this getup remind us of her character, the funny and unforgettable Meenalochni “Meena” Azhagusundaram from Chennai Express?
The lehenga, which Deepika will don for the Sindhi ceremony, is a pink and purple coloured one. The actress will also wear an ornament seen in the Jauhar sequence in Padmaavat — the heavy jadau necklace. Additionally, a bejewelled maang teeka and nath will add sparkle to her look.
Phaadu ritual for Ranveer
The Saanth, a unique ritual at Sindhi weddings will be a feature at the DeepVeer wedding. As per the ritual on the eve of the wedding, the groom’s friends and family members, mostly married, oil the head of the groom. Ranveer will also be made to wear a shoe on his right foot and will be made to break an earthen pot with the shoe-wearing foot and then his relatives will tear off his clothes. According to Sindhi rituals clothes of the groom symbolise his old life, that of a bachelor, and believe that a person starts a new life when they get married. The tearing is to ward off evil and to prepare the groom for his new life. Now we know why Ranveer was seen gymming vigorously hours before he boarded the flight to Italy!
The shopping spree
The actress has been seen shopping for some accessories at an Italian mall. Posted by a random Internet user, the video sees her sipping coffee while using the escalator along with her mother Ujjala and a relative and two huge bodyguards in tow. With her wedding trousseau being firmed up already, the actress has been wandering around. Interestingly, two Indian women caught up with her to take selfies with her at a cosmetic store at the mall.
