Parmanu delayed again, this time because of Anushka Sharma's Pari?
Many Bollywood movies are awaiting their release, which have to be either pushed or face a clash.
Mumbai: Bollywood is in a weird scenario at the moment. There are many movies awaiting their release, a little too many, which have to be either pushed or face a clash.
The most recent scenario is Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor-Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Padmaavat’ coming on 25th January, which will be releasing with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’. Another movie, Sidharth Malhotra-Manoj Bajpayee starrer, Neeraj Pandey directorial ‘Aiyaary’ had book Republic Day for their release, but that had to be pushed for 9th February release to avoid clashing with the two movies. Co-incidentally that was the same time Anushka Sharma’s ‘Pari’ would hit the theatres. ‘Pari’ too postponed its release to 2nd March. In all of this, it looks like John Abraham-Diana Penty starrer ‘Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran’ will suffer.
The film was supposed to release on 8th December last year, but the makers decided to release it later to avoid the after effects of ‘Padmaavat’ (then ‘Padmavati’). ‘Parmanu’s latest release date says it will clash with ‘Hichki’ at the Box Office on February 23rd. But again, producer Vashu Bhagnani also announced his movie ‘Boom Boom In New York’ starring Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh will release on the same day. So it looks like ‘Parmanu’ will be pushed yet again, and will not want to go for a March release because ‘Pari’ releases around the same time.
Says a source to DNA, “A three-way clash will hamper the movie’s business and nobody wants to lose money. Plus, KriArj has just announced that ‘Pari’ is coming on March 2, so it doesn’t make sense for them to have two films releasing back-to-back. Ideally, the makers want a fortnight’s gap in between their movies.”
Adds another source, “Reportedly, John wasn’t too happy to leave the December 8 spot as well. So, it will take a bit of convincing but he should understand the scenario and think about what serves his film best.”
