Well known lyricist Prasoon Joshi who has penned the lyrics for Manikarnika is sure people will love to watch the film.

Neatly sidestepping the issue of whether the clash with the Thackerey biopic will affect its box office fortunes, he merely says, “Laxmi Bai’s life story is an intriguing and interesting tale which one and all will like to see. This is the story of a woman who, in those days, fought for her adopted child. Even after the death of her husband, she went on to fight against the atrocities of the British that Indians had to deal with.”

Pointing out that Laxmi Bai signified women empowerment in its truest sense, Prasoon says, “The audience will witness all this through this movie - how a woman handles a sword fight with vigour and dignity. How she was also an able horse rider and undeterred by witnessing bloodshed during war, she moved ahead to be the savior for her own people. I am sure the audiences will definitely like to watch this movie.”

Since Prasoon is also Chairman of the Censor Board, did the film get the benefit of leniency with certifications?  “For Manikarnika, like for any other film, the regular procedure and guidelines of film certification was followed. The department works on all this. I do not get involved in regular day-to-day things. Only if I am required for consultation, I am always there,” he explains.

An issue that Prasoon feels strongly about is patriotism. Revealing that he was initiating a programme he had long wanted to start - #deshprem jatao, he asserts, “We can choose any medium to showcase our love – through art, music or words. The youth of our Country need to express their love and we should in fact feel proud to showcase our love for our Country without feeling apologetic about it.”
