In a recent interaction with the media, actor Govinda spoke candidly about the many problems plaguing his films. The actor said that the past nine years have been particularly rough as his films. They have either not seen the light of day, or have been released in an insufficient number of theatres.

He says, “I have noticed that, for the past nine years, my films have not been getting proper release dates or a proper platform. Sometimes my films are not provided a proper number of theatres.”

The actor highlights the films FryDay and Sandwich as examples. “Though FryDay was critically acclaimed, it has not delivered expected results and that’s because of the lesser number of theatres provided to FryDay,” says Govinda. He also mentions Sandwich, whose release was delayed for three years.

“Another film, which was made under the banner of Ashtavinayak also did not see the light of day. The same was the case with a film that was made under Ravi Chopra’s banner,” adds the actor.

While one could think that fate had dealt a bad hand to the actor, Govinda insists that the reason for these hold ups is far more sinister. “I have started feeling that there are a few people who do not want me to act in films. But I have left politics peacefully and do not wish to speak about anyone specifically. I can only work hard and make a humble request - please allow me to work,” he concludes.
