Arjun Rampal pleased with Daddy response
The number of screens especially in Maharashtra too have been increased in India in the second week.
The box office figures of the Arjun Rampal starrer Daddy has crossed the Rs 7 crore mark, and the actor is quite happy. Arjun feels that the movie, based on gangster Arun Gawli’s life, has done better than what the expectations from it were. The number of screens — especially in Maharashtra — too have been increased in India in the second week.
“There is a demand for the film, and hence we’ve added 35 screens only in Maharashtra. That is a very positive thing, and we have better timings as well,” says Arjun.
The actor is also thrilled about the feedback he’s received for the film. “It feels very good,” he says. “It’s the result of a lot of hard work. Audiences, especially the ones in Maharashtra, have loved it. People have come out and reacted well to the movie.”
While Daddy has received mixed reviews, Arjun has managed to get critical acclaim for his role. “People have said I look like Arun Gawli in the film. It was the director, Ashim Ahluwalis, who made sure that the make up and wardrobe, apart from my body structure, was very close to Arun Gawli’s. That’s what the audience have said too, and that’s the biggest compliment,” he smiles.
Arjun says that the film has worked for the audiences also because it has a balanced view. “We did not just glorify him. His dark side too was highlighted. We did not want to do a propaganda film. Arun Gawli trusted us to make the film, and we hoped that we did not anger him with the movie,” adds Arjun.
So, has Gawli seen the film? “Please get me permission to show him the movie in jail, and I will do it,” says Arjun. “The judicial process of the country may not allow us at the moment, but yes, something can be done where we can show the film to all inmates of the jail where he’s lodged.”
Arjun’s next is J.P. Dutta’s Paltan, but he has something else on his mind first. “I’ve not thought much about Paltan, but I will take time. It’s a film inspired by a real-life character. Right now, I will take a break after Daddy,” he signs off.
