Web release for Dil Bechara?
Apparently, the film Dil Bechara was found to be too depressing†for the mass consumption.
After the execrable Drive, another Sushant Singh Rajput starrer is being denied a theatrical release.
The film, entitled Dil Bechara, is the official remake of the Hollywood 2014 tearjerker The Fault In Our Stars and is about two young terminally ill people who fall in love.
Apparently, the Hindi remake was found to be “too depressing” for mass consumption, and may go straight to the OTT platforms. This is a big blow for Rajput, who is still facing backlash over Drive, especially because he is said to have given a moving performance in Dil Bechara.
Sushant stars opposite newcomer Sanjana Sanghi, for whom a digital debut may prove disastrous. According to a source close to the development, “After Drive, producer Karan Johar may again offload Dil Bechara on the OTT platform. It would be a double blow for Sushant, and several careers are at stake. Actress Sanjana Sanghi and casting director Mukesh Chabra are both making debuts with this film. The OTT platform would be doom for all concerned.”
