Rumours of a cold war between Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have been making their way through B-town grapevines ever since Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati went on floors. However, a source from the SLB’s team reveals that there is absolutely no friction between the two supposed rivals. “They’ve met and read the script together. They haven’t started shooting together as yet. There is absolutely no friction about their roles. When Shahid came on board he knew exactly what his role was. In fact, Ranveer, who was signed first, suggested Shahid’s name for the other male lead as he felt the Deepika-Shahid pair was fresh and very appealing,” says the source.

Curiously enough, many a supposed rivalry has fizzled out on Bhansali’s sets, even as friendships have been formed. For instance, Ajay  Devgn  and  Salman  Khan did have a difference of opinion about who should get the girl at the end in Hum Dil  De Chuke Sanam. But during shooting they hung out together whenever they had shared scenes.

More recently, Deepika  and  Priyanka got along like a house on fire during  Bajirao Mastani.

SLB recalls, “I had to keep reminding them that they were playing rivals in love. During shots they were constantly bonding, chatting and giggling together. Their lack of rivalry was disturbing, seeing as they had to act the parts in the film.”
