Aziz Ansari Sexual Assault: Why couldn't she say no, asks Twitter
After the infamous Harvey Weinstein case, comedian Aziz Ansari has now been accused of sexual assault.
Mumbai: After the infamous Harvey Weinstein case, comedian Aziz Ansari has now been accused of sexual assault.
According to reports and statement from the girl he went on a date with last year, Aziz ‘forced’ her to have sex with him and the date didn’t really end like she had planned. She went on to saying that he took no notice of her signals that apparently made it very clear that she was not comfortable.
Aziz recently gave a statement to People magazine reacting to the controversy and said that all the sexual activity between the two was consensual. The statement read, “The next day, I got a text from her saying that although ‘it may have seemed okay,’ upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue.”
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the case:
Celebrity or No Celebrity, what does it take to slap and walk out on a man who's violating you despite your opposition unless you're yourself confused about what you want ???#AzizAnsari

I don't know what are we preparing women for by giving them martial arts, self defense trainings when they can't say a strong NO to who they're calling as their sexual assaulters after being in a steamy date.

A "PUSH by woman" also seems to be too much expectation.#AzizAnsari
If some random stranger asks you to do something you won't hesitate to say no. If someone tells you to do something you don't want to you'll say no. The second it involves sexual actions you become paralyzed with fear and try and give off signals via body language.

I'm sorry if this makes me a bad feminist, but this @azizansari story reads like consensual, bad sex that the woman later regretted. It's not assault, and grouping this experience with, say, what a Dylan Farrow or a Rose McGowan went through is unacceptable. #MeToo #AzizAnsari

#AzizAnsari he is innocent. She was consensually engaged in the sexual activity & she never said no wtf you justify your bs by labelling your willful engagement in the sex as Non Verbal Cues, nope You had every chance to say no and get yup but you didn't. @azizansari is Innocent
