Mumbai: ‘Soorma’, the latest Bollywood sports biopic, is enjoying good response at the box-office thanks to its impressive content. The Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu starrer collected Rs 3.20 crore on its opening day and showed an upward trend on Saturday with Rs 5.05 crore earnings. On Sunday, it garnered Rs 5.60 crore completing its first weekend on the fair note.

Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest numbers by saying, "#Soorma has decent weekend... Considering the low start on Fri morning, the biz did escalate over the weekend, but the jump on Sun wasn't substantial enough... Maintaining the pace on weekdays is important... Fri 3.20 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 5.60 cr. Total: ₹ 13.85 cr. India biz.

In his review, Deccan Chronicle critic Rohit Bhatnagar gave 4 out of 5 stars to 'Soorma'. He wrote: "There’s a big risk factor involved in making any biopic, for that matter. It is necessary to do justice to the person’s life (dead or alive). However, directors try many things to glorify certain things in a biopic, latest being Sanju, but Soorma is relatively made in a real space. A tale of an underdog is told in an entertaining manner. Although the first half is slightly lengthy and could have been chopped off by five to ten minutes, the second half compensates it completely. It is supremely high on emotions."

'Soorma' is garnering lots of praises from critics and audience alike for the inspirational tale of hockey legend Sandeep Singh. While Diljit Dosanjh plays Sandeep Singh, his brother’s role Bikramjeet Singh is played by Angad Bedi. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Satish Kaushik, Vijay Raaz in important roles.

Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh and Deepak Singh, ‘Soorma’ is written and directed by Shaad Ali and was release on 13th July.
