Sonam Kapoor gears up for Zoya Factor
Anuja's second book, Battle For Bittora, was also scheduled to be made into a film.
Anuja Chauhan’s bestseller The Zoya Factor has been hunting for a screen debut for the past nine years. It was initially Shah Rukh Khan who had taken the rights to adopt the film into a movie. The film was to be directed then by Shirish Kunder.
After three years of lying dormant, SRK lost the rights of the film. Pooja Shetty Deora, daughter of Manmohan Shetty, wanted to produce the film through her production house Walkwater Films. But then Walkwater has not been making too many films, and the film did not materialise. People started speculating if Anuja’s books were jinxed.
Anuja’s second book, Battle For Bittora, was also scheduled to be made into a film. The rights were with Saregama, but they lost the rights after being unable to make a film. Then it was being speculated that Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan would star in a film made on the book, which would be directed by Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Rhea Kapoor. But the Indo-Pak tensions led to the project being scrapped.
However, it seems that the film is about to be made at last and Sonam is gearing up to play the role of Zoya in the film.
For those haven’t read the books - The Zoya Factor is the fictional story of an advertising professional, Zoya, who becomes a lucky mascot for the cricket team and falls in love with the captain of the Indian cricket team, and motivates them to win the world cup.
