Bachchan's reunion spree
The actor will be working with his Aks director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in his next.
Many years ago, one saw a thriller of supernatural varity with the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra-directed Aks, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee. Bachchan was seen again in a cameo in Mehra’s Delhi 6, starring his son Abhishek. And now, Bachchan will be seen again in Mehra’s next project after the former wraps his boxing film Toofan with Farhan Akhtar.
However, Mehra is not the only director Bachchan will be reuniting with. He is also planning to work in R Balki’s next film which is again a quirky one like their earlier collaborations — Shamitabh, Cheeni Kum and Paa.
“Both Rakeysh and Balki are filmmakers that Bachchan is very close to, but won’t do a film with them till he understands how good it is going to turn out to be. He doesn’t want to just do another film with them like how he used to do with Ram Gopal Varma. So, the scripts are in place and Bachchan needs to wrap up shoots of his film Brahmastra and Chehre and then promote his next release Jhund, where he plays a football coach, and Gulabo Sitabo, where he essays the role of a landlord,” says our source.
Bachchan had just one release in Bollywood this year, which was Badla where he reunited with his Aladin director Sujoy Ghosh. Gulabo Sitabo also sees him reuniting with his Shoebite and Piku director Shoojit Sircar. Chehre sees him getting back to work with his God Tussi Great Ho director Rumi Jaffery.
