Ranbir has no releases in 2019

If reports are to be believed, Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra requires more time to shoot, and so Ranbir's next, Shamshera, has been postponed.

In spite of the blockbuster status accorded to his last release Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor has not gone on a signing spree. This is not only a voluntary choice —Ranbir is never known to go on a movie-signing spree—but also because he has taken on two back-to-back projects which are taking more time than usual.

We are talking about Ayan Mukerji’s  Bramhastra  and  Karan Malhotra’s  Shamshera. While the first is an ambitious, sprawling sci-fi epic featuring Ranbir with Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt, Shamshera is a dacoit drama set in the style of films like Mujhe Jeene Do and Mera Gaon Mera Desh.

Both require an inordinate number of workdays from Ranbir. But now, it seems that Bhamhastra requires even more time, thereby eating into the dates that were allotted to Shamshera.

According to sources, Bhamhastra producer Karan Johar went to see Aditya Chopra, the producer of Shamshera, requesting for additional dates.

“Ranbir’s dates for Shamshera were supposed to start after Bramhastra wrapped.

But it seems Ayan requires more of Ranbir’s dates. Karan requested Adi for more time and he complied. Shamshera will now be completed in 2021.”

This means Ranbir’s only release in two years will be Bramhastra, which is scheduled  to release in December  2020.
