Arshad Warsi is keen on remaking Pushpak, and going into the silent movie zone with it. However, he still hasn’t secured the rights for the movie yet. “They haven’t given me the rights yet,” he sighs. “They’re charging a lot of money. I can write my own silent movie, but Pushpak is a known film, so it’ll be much more fun to remake that movie.”
But will there be an audience for a silent film now? “They’re the most beautiful films to watch,” he asserts. “I’m sure the audiences would like to see silent films.”
Possibly one of the most secure actors in showbiz, Arshad isn’t worried about his work; he believes he’s talented enough to survive in this industry. Arshad, who will be 50 next year, is impassive about his Bollywood career, and says he has no airs.
“I’m not a vain person; I’m very realistic, I know where I stand and how old I am,” says Arshad. “I like my space, and I don’t want to stay young all my life. I’m okay with ageing, which is a natural progression.”
He adds, “My sense of security is that if you’re good at your work, you will work all your life. There’s no end to it. Look at Amitji (Bachchan), Rishi Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, and Paresh Rawal. All these are great actors. I’m a decent actor, and I’m sure I will keep getting work. I’ll be a father, and then a grandfather (on-screen), and life will go on.”
Meanwhile, the actor is busy promoting Golmaal Again, which will hit theatres this Diwali.
