Bollywood rallies behind Zaira Wasim
Bollywood stars have come out in support of young Zaira, who was targetted for holding a meeting with J&K CM, Mehbooba Mufti.
Zaira Wasim may only be 16-years-old, but she’s turned out to be quite a revelation. With her stunning performance as the young Geeta Phogat in the blockbuster, Dangal, she charmed the whole nation in December. However, the youngster was caught in the eye of the social media storm when she posed an apology letter from her Twitter account on Monday evening.
The actress had come under attack after meeting Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, even as a role model. While the post was soon deleted from her account, she received unwavering support from the Bollywood fraternity.
Her Dangal co-star, Aamir Khan tweeted in Zaira’s favour and wrote, “I have read Zaira’s statement and I can understand and imagine what led her to make that statement. Zaira, I want you to know that we are all with you. The beauty is that bright, young, talented, hard-working, respectful, caring and courageous kids like you are a rode model not only to kids in India but across the world. You certainly are a role model for me! May god bless you, love Aamir. PS, I appeal to everyone now to leave her alone and respect the fact that she is just a 16 year old girl trying her best to deal with life. (sic)”
Anupam Kher too jumped on to the bandwagon and lent his support, saying, “Dear @zairawasim! Ur apology letter is sad but full of courage. It exposes d cowardice of people who made u write it.But u r my #RoleModel.”
Sonu Nigam took to Twitter and wrote, “May God give Sanity to this World. And a Bigger Perspective of Humanity beyond Religion and Patriotism. # Zairawasim”
Swara Bhaskar spoke for the actress too. “#Zairawasim u dont need 2 apologise 2 faceless losers. They r narrow minded cowards. U ARE a role model for ALL young girls & u shud b proud,” she wrote.
